Steel has gained popularity in jewelry work and this class provides the opportunity to explore the unique surface quality, mark-making, and rich durable color that enamel has to offer on this inexpensive and dynamic base material. Understand how to properly mix, apply and fire enamel on steel surfaces.

The history of enamel on steel and applications both large and small
Best steel alloys for enameling (and sourcing)
Using liquid-form enamel for mark-making
Tinting with oxides
Using pre-enameled steel sheet for sample-making
Basic steel fabrication with jewelry equipment (soldering NOT included)
Preparing the steel for successful enamel bond
